Anytime a buzzword comes about organization leaders must determine whether to invest in joining the crowd or staying away. Digital Transformation is right up there with the most touted movements impacting the modern enterprise. Is it for you?
I won’t cite any of the big consulting firms’ findings, you can do that on your own. Let me approach this topic from a different perspective: Take a hard look at the critical business processes in your organization and -honestly- assess whether they provide the best customer experience in your organization and if they are as efficient as could be. Furthermore, evaluate how manual these processes are and measure how much it’s costing you to remain tied to the paper culture. One final point of reference: look at your competitive landscape and find out how automated are the services and customer relationships of other players in the market. Are they equally behind the times or are there’s any lean startups out there providing unique value propositions to YOUR customer base? How much of a threat are they to you now or in the next three years?
After taking this hard look in the mirror… can you still honestly discard the urgency of digitally transforming processes in your organization? Is the analysis dire enough to make you realize that the very existence of your organization may be in jeopardy if you don’t reinvent your company right away?
If you are ready to accept the digital transformation challenge, realize that this is a long-term commitment that will nevertheless generate many quick wins and immediate savings and measurable competitive advantages.
